After all the posts we keep seeing about whether MUDs and text-based gaming in general is doomed in the face of graphical MMORPGs, I thought this article was pretty interesting:

Now I'll just have to wait for them to release text-based games on CD players, then I might be able to afford to play them! But this is interesting, most people say text-based games are dying, but I think there's always going to be people who like to play text-based games.

Definately. As I said in some other post, text based games are worldwide. As long as that is true, there will allways be someone willing to play them. Even if it is, just a few oddballs.

I am always hoping someone will come up with a really good, easy to use, free telnet client for PDA/phone use.

I don't think you'd be able to do any serious, intense mudding, but you could at least chat a bit, catch up on mail, etc.

This would be a real selling point to text based games imho.

I once programmed a MUD-like RPG into my graphic calculator (back in the '90s when calculators had much less memory capability than they have now). Given the advances in calculators, to say nothing of PDAs, it shouldn't be that hard provided someone has the time and desire to try.

I'd probably find it cool, but I'm like a kid around such things. *grin*

Take care,

Jason
