This project works like a MUD on steroids. We created a short trailer for our new free asynchronous custom coded medieval fantasy Text Role-playing Game that allows you to play a detailed RPG where you decide how the Scenario plays out. In fact, you can even change things so it affects others! No Dungeon Master or other Players needed! Nothing to install or download, simply play on your Browser anytime while maintaining that feeling of being in a tabletop RPG but being more descriptive:

I attempted to check this out but found the website to be very unwieldy to traverse.

Is there a way to play without having to jump through all the hoops of whether I’m looking for friends or whatever?

This is not a game to be rushed and as mentioned in the starting pages (See ) it is part of a community, they are not separate from each other. This is not like the regular MUD where you just connect and play or download and play. An actual account has to be established so your character can be saved and your writings can be verified.

So it's like a table top RPG in the details that are expected.

And like a play by post forum game in the pacing?

I misunderstood with all the talk of coding and such. I assumed it was a web based game you could play from your browser with NPCs and such that were coded into it.

It sounds like it might be more of a slower paced MUSH?

Not PBP, not MUSH... there are some videos on the site, perhaps they will help you understand what the game is about. The pace and format are up to you because ROK II is a story you create in a medieval fantasy time period. There is no game out there that is like it hence making a comparison will leave out the details, but I believe this will not be your cup of tea if you want something that just goes right into a story that an author has already written for you.

I watched the videos, just found them super vague. There was not even any screenshots or video of what the actual game looks like save for a map that said HOME in the middle.

I guess that depends on which of the many videos you chose to watch. An actual reading of the Rules / Start pages actually declares where and when the game begins.
