Greetings,

A little later than I hoped, but: the first edition of Brody's MUD Index is online in Acrobat PDF format and can be downloaded from

I had originally planned to sell the index. However, the advertising proved adequate enough to support free distribution. THANK YOU to the folks who bought enhanced listings and display ads!

If you need to add your MUD or need changes to an existing listing, please submit them by March 15, 2002. Instructions are included in Brody's MUD Index.

The file is about 767 KB.

Enjoy!

Andrew Cowan, proprietor of the MUD Connector, was the special guest writer of the foreword for the first edition of Brody's MUD Index. I'm now looking for someone to write 300-500 words as a foreword for the second edition.

Preferences: Someone with long-term good standing in the MUDing community who has a fair way with words and can speak to the benefits of playing text-based games in the age of graphic monsters such as Everquest and Asheron's Call.

Think you qualify? E-mail me at !

Sorry for asking, maybe I overlooked it, but is the idea to link to this index for new potential mudders on places where they might pass? If so, wouldn't a html page server a better purpose?

Or is it really to make a big book with the listing of all muds ever existed?

Edward Falconer, developer of The Cathyle Project - - has graciously agreed to write the foreword of the second edition of Brody's MUD Index!

Also, point of clarification: If you submitted a MUD for the first edition, you STILL need to re-submit to get it in the second edition. This ensures that we're publishing information about *live* and *active* MUDs.
