Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

I've been playing this game ever since it first came out. Went through every single race/sex combination ( I still think that a female Dark Elf is the best-looking ). And now I have found the absolutely best resource I have ever seen for this game.

I even downloaded the image of this map on my blackberry so I can look at the awesomeness of it.

Sweet. I'm oh so tempted to the nerdly thing: Blow it up and tack it up on my wall. I haven't finished the game and its collecting dust in my collection. Now, I think I want to pick it back up.

I've never put the game down myself. At least not for very long. I've played through it 3 full times now, the last two with several mods installed. There's plenty of really good ones out there these days to pick from.

The real addiction sets in when you start making your own mods and start dreaming up more and more interesting things to do with them.

Another Oblivion fan here! I consider myself a mudder rather than a gamer and finally tried this game out last summer after a mudding clannie of mine told me to trust him and try it out :)

I also play a few different muds right now and wish each of implementer/mud owner would play Oblivion and learn some game design lessons. So many muds are still hung up on making puzzles too hard or making combat too hard or too easy. Oblivion rocks in allowing you to adjust the difficulty on things...

Here's the site I visit when I encounter a glitch or just need a helping hand:

Heh, just last night I stayed up and finished the mages guild, arena champion and started on the thieves guild. Sad to say I haven't even started on the main quest yet. I'll start on that after I get all the guilds and the side quests done.

And the SI and Knights of the Nine additions as well.

Sad thing is...Knights of the Nine is the easiest thing I've ever had to do.

Re: Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

I started with the Game of the Year Edition, so it came with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. For some reason I did Knights of the Nine with my first character but skipped Shivering Islands. Yeah, wasn't that thrilled with Knights so much either.

Just finished Shivering Islands main quest for the first time. Fun stuff, especially the phrase, "Come visit or I'll pluck yer eyes out!" That one sorta stuck with me.:D

My current character is playing with alchemy a bit more and is using a mod to help sort my alchemy supplies.

Ugh! I really hate that I can't play the version I bought for the PC, on account of my PC hating me... and being extremely old.

I do play the Xbox one, or did, before I became disenchanted with the spontaneous character dialogue being... well, dumb. I think I like Elder Scrolls better, simply because I can mod it up and actually play it, though it's nowhere near as beautiful as Oblivion.

Not to mention there's no beautiful trees in Morrowind... unless you have the mod! =D

Edit: On the console version of Oblivion, I only ever got real into the Dark Brotherhood quests. They were so brutal, and completely awesome! After I beat them, I tried going and doing other guilds, and they just didn't interest me that much.

*snicker* My dark elf wench is now owning the thieves guild and dark brotherhood. Hrm, maybe I shouldn't be so ruthless with her. I'm just....so mean when I play the dark elves. Reminds me of Drow too much I guess.

Dark Brotherhood is my favorite guild. The rest were pretty light on good content.

Re: Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

I started with the GOTY edition on the PS3 when it came out, and we are going to be buying a decent PC soon just to run games, especially the mods for Oblivion. :D I can't even remember all of the characters I've had, but I've easily put in a thousand hours or more.

I agree the KOTN is an easy quest, but since it takes so little thought, it is a good one to jump into when I just want to kill things, but not really work at it. I can usually do it in under 3 hours, which makes it a good project for a weekend.

Thieves Guild is almost as easy, until that last quest. That is my favorite one.

I'm not into the dark and depressing story lines usually, so I skip the Brotherhood quest most of the time. Still, it is very interesting and much more complicated than the base thieve quest.

Mages Guild was fun the first time, but really, it is just hoops to jump through until I can get access to the tower. After I get access, I move on to other quests.

Arena Champion is one I need to go back and try again. I did it the first time, just to get Adoring Fan, so I could torment him. :) Maybe a new Orc who actually goes back and fights the battles that are available after he becomes champion.

Someday, I am going to close all of those gates....I wonder if anyone actually has done that?

Considering that the only RPGs I had played prior to this were Final Fantasy, it was a huge change. I can ignore some of the poor dialog, just so I can wander anywhere I want!

When I'm not playing Oblivion, Fallout3 is my other addiction.

LOL, I just went and sent my Adoring Fan into a portal....Follow me everywhere you punk!

Hah! Game rules! Sadly I have not gotten very far, as I just purchased it last year with the game of the year edition, with all the bells and whistles and expansion packs. It also came with Bioshock which is a fantastic game as well! Due to my son being born and RL catching up with me, all my free time is spent building/coding my mud and from there no time left to play. But you can bet your sweet ass I will keep it with me and play and beat it one day. Hopefully soon...

I have also played and beaten Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2. Both great games, with all expansions.
