A Question that has me wondering.

In helping write the rules of a MUD under construction, this question has come to mind;

Would the hatred of Player A towards Player B interfear with any fair role play between them, especially if one of their characters is ranked higher than the other?

What I'd like to know from all of you is weither or not this can be even considered fair RP while InCharacter, or are the actions motivated by Out Of Character attitudes?

Thank you.

No, it's not fair RP and it can have an extreme negative effect on the environment and other players of the game. Unfortunately, you get to occasionally deal with the immature attitudes of some players. Fortunately, there are generally lots of other mature players on decent RP games --

It depends whether or not they can still remain IC while they're ****ed at each other. Just because they don't like each other OOC doesn't mean that they can't still have a great RP experience. Just depends on the person I suppose.

Only if they can't roleplay without the OOC situation infringing.

That said, your question is about, specifically, rules, no? I find that the best Staff policy is this: "Your OOC quibbles are your OOC quibbles; don't make us get involved."

Re: A Question that has me wondering.

This question really depends on the game and how Roleplay Enforced your game is. Some games allow OOC interactions others do not. Depending on how liberal your game is at these rules will be the basis of your policies.

Having said that, despite policies, some players can take things very seriously and get so involved they start to bleed over to OOC. In these cases it can become quite the chore (ask any of our staff) dealing with OOC conflicts regardless of your hardline rules.
