I have played Realms of Despair(And Only Realms) off and on for 5 years, and have reached my limit. It's the game that taught me to MUD, but I'm tired of all the speed levelers and golders. Increasingly helping newbies has become my only game contribution. Guilds are stale, run's are non-exsistant. I just really want something new...

I want a newbie friendly, group oriented game, where I count and can truely belong. Where gold and strict leveling are De-emphasized. With a large world, and a skill/exp system that has no cap, and there's always SOMETHING to do.

Is this only wishful thinking? Or does a place like this exsist?

Well, most "role-playing" MUDs tend to at least advertise that there is more than just leveling and such to them (that's not to say they're being completely honest). I'm afraid I'm a bit out of the loop on non-RP MUDs so I can't really recommend one to you. However, I can suggest that most H&S MUDs (that is, those which don't emphasize role-play) tend to have competitive people on them who do emphasize leveling and acquisition of equipment/gold. It's sort of the nature of the beast and finding one that doesn't is likely going to be difficult. Sorry I can't be of much assistance. Have you tried looking over the characteristics that Realms of Despair lists and then running a search for other MUDs that meet that same set of criteria? That's really the most I can offer.

Good luck though and take care.

Jason
