We've released the 2nd chapter in Earth Eternal's sweeping backstory today.

You can find the chapter index (only 2 of them as of yet) at

Enjoy!

The link doesn't appear to go anywhere.

Whoops, fixed. Thanks Aeran!

So after reading these first two chapters, I feel like there's a thematic disconnect between the evolving story (which has a dark and serious tone) and the pre-release artwork (which appears light and whimsical).

Anyone else have this impression?

Not sure I follow the logic in that. I can't recall any good fiction that isn't consistent in this respect.

Consider it the difference between the Silmarillion and the Hobbit.

Exactly the examples I was thinking of (actually, the Hobbit and LOTR). These are different works, where the mood or atmosphere, for lack of a better term, is consistent. Compare them, and the Hobbit is light and easy while LOTR is not. They would seem disjoint if one adopted the style of the other in parts.

the_logos 02-05-2007 07:35 PM

Well, you're free to look at them as separate works. I look at them as part of the same work, told in different styles.

In any case, if you'd like, why not head over to the forums at and talk it over?
