Author of The Softwire here.
Hello Everyone!
I'm new to this site so let me introduce myself. My name is PJ Haarsma and I am the author of The Softwire series. It is a four book series about a group of kids who get sold as slaves to aliens on the Rings of Orbis. The setting of the book is also the setting for a MUD I created myself at the Rings of Orbis. Derek mentioned this forum and also suggested I might offer some help with storytelling and how it relates to the game. I would love to share any tips and resources I can, so ask away or send me a message. I look forward to participating in your forums! PJ Haarsma. Welcome to TMS!
I'll take a peek at Softwire. It sounds sci-fi-ish. |

Re: Author of The Softwire here.
Nice, nice website. Just by that alone it makes me want to read the books.
Only thing I saw is that you should probably advertise for the MUD on the book website. I didn't see any links there to the MUD's website. So.. damnit. Now I gotta go over to the bookstore. - Zenn |

Welcome writer. Always good to have writers around when we all are books, as it were.

Re: Author of The Softwire here.
It's amazing how many people are afraid to enter an email that actually works. They fear they will be spammed forever. Without a real, working email they do not receive their activation email and therefore can't log in. We did a test with a bunch of kids for the login process and after explaining it several times one kid says, "Oh! You mean a real email!" I went with that.

Re: Author of The Softwire here.
So why are @gmail.com addresses not considered real then?

Right, in which case there are NO errors coming up and the sign up just isn't being processed. I wonder how many registrations you're losing due to the lack of error reporting on form validation. |

I loose most of my regs from mispellings in the email or service providers blocking the registration email. That's a real pain. I track how many people "leave" the registration process and that number is not high. I will examine it again though based on your concerns. Thanks. |

Re: Author of The Softwire here.
So, is it just .. not a MUD anymore? An MMO now? Or what, exactly?
