This is a discussion on "RPxp" in the Top Mud Sites Roleplaying and Storytelling forum : The MUD that I play on currently is going through a stage where they are trying to find an effective system that allows OOC level and RP talent/rank affect how strong you are in-character. One attempt was called estimated combat ability (ECA) where players a a certain rank in a guild were in a category like Expierence Soldier (18). The formula was 18/100 x OOC LEVEL x 1/2 Reincarnate/Remort level x 1/4 Ext. Level. This has flaws because certain people couldn't be part of guilds, unless they hid their talent from the world (... |

The MUD that I play on currently is going through a stage where they are trying to find an effective system that allows OOC level and RP talent/rank affect how strong you are in-character.
One attempt was called estimated combat ability (ECA) where players a a certain rank in a guild were in a category like Expierence Soldier (18). The formula was 18/100 x OOC LEVEL x 1/2 Reincarnate/Remort level x 1/4 Ext. Level. This has flaws because certain people couldn't be part of guilds, unless they hid their talent from the world (Those would be Male Channelers for you WoT fans). At the moment, we do this thing called RP Levels. You do in-character quests in the game for a certain amount of expierence points. These points allow you to level IC, and it also does a formula adding in OOC level. I would like to hear what kind of systems you other MUDers have expierenced with out there. This MUD needs something to control IC strength, and we need ideas. |
