The only things I've seen are 2D multiplayer cRPG type games, possibly you could repurpose one of those, and big frameworks not exactly designed for muds (but usable by them). Let's see, the coder of Maiden Desmodus had a post about SmartFoxServer...

An open source AS3 mud seems like a nice niche that could be filled.
