Of course they can - but when you post a room description as an example of the quality of your mud, and that description has a spelling mistake in it, it's unlikely to give the impression of quality that you intended. Remember that (most) muds are purely a text-based medium, and most people would expect the mud owner to use their best room description within the advert.
If I advertised a pure PK mud by posting a log of a combat sequence, what impression would you get if the mud crashed part way through the logged fight that I posted?
My post wasn't so much directed at Hephos, but was rather a general comment aimed at everyone. No mud is perfect, and everyone ends up overlooking a few things, but its important to take a little extra time to proof-check your adverts.
