Avendar: the Crucible of Legends, a ROM-based RP/PK MUD, opened in January 1998, and ran continuously through August 2015, when our server imploded.

We've decided to publicly release the source code, area files, and other documentation. With 18 years of development, the code is highly customized and extended, with some impressive building tools--particularly a very robust prog system.

Anyone interested in running an Avendar MUD can find the (~140MB) release package here, which should contain all the pieces needed to resurrect the game:
