Through I found this translation of a Chinese article about a PvP MMO that has embraced RMT (paying real money to get items, levels, etc.). The description of the mechanics is pretty interesting. Read down about halfway to get to the description of the treasure chests.



A lot of it sounds unpleasant from an ethical perspective, but I thought it's a good read nonetheless.


edit: since I posted this in the middle of reading the article myself...the end of the article is awesome, and the game doesn't quite 'embrace' RMT as I first thought.
