I picked up a book called Sams Teach Yourself Linux ISBN 0-672-31524-6 by John Ray for 13 bucks. It's not an in-depth how-to book but it gives the tools necessary for learning how to navigate, some shortcuts, some tables of commands and some decent guidance on how to get started.
