Probably because this is the promotion board and people can promote their MUD (which includes their website) any way they choose..?
The layout looks very nice, the several advertisements I could do without, it seems to take away from the layout, but the colors and design are very good. I'm not sure how easy things are to find though, but I haven't really looked into it that much.
