In reference to number #2, that reminds me of a drawing I did while learning Arabic. The words for paratroopers actually meant parachute forces. The word for parachute also meant umbrella or parasol.
So I made a drawing "Parasol Forces" that featured a detailed Mary Poppinesque figure loaded with ammo belts and assorted weaponry. The background had little silouettes featuring the dress shape, the umbrella, and a weapon point filling the sky.
I find the differences between languages interesting. (Either that or I can easily amuse myself.)
