As an aside, though Haven is based on the original NightmareIV mudlib, it no longer features the 'use skills to advance the skill' system. I found while running Haven that tended to encourage botting more than playing.

Instead, Haven now uses an XP-point system where you spend these XP to advance your skills. This is all clearly noted in the newbie book (which you must read before fully completing your character, and which is accessable at any time using 'help newbie').

In response though, I have pared down the starting options to only newbie-friendly towns and races. I'm trying to rebuild a player base though, and any criticism is always welcome.
