That's an easy answer; I wasn't aware they had one. It's a little something like this: at the time I tried them, I was looking for something different in a mud. I still believed that because one mud was original, the rest would be, and I left after about 2 days. Obviously, it still left enough of an impression that I remembered the name.

As for wilderness systems in general, there are a variety of approaches; dark legacy has one that has an alternative blind mode. On the other hand, you get batmud, which is fun but a pain; I found a svn repository (now mercury, but all the same) for one of the player created map thingies, which actually had coordinates matching the actual ones ingame; before they introduced the command that showed them ingame, I used a ship with waypoints. And, I think immortals helped create that map, too.
