I'd say if you're a pkill player on a mud then you are gambling. Heck even on a mud where dying means you lose something (meaning muds, not console games, those typically have savepoints, you can load back to full eq if you die, another player can't loot you, a mob can't eat your corpse, etc.) Gambling with your time perhaps, not your money, but there's not much difference. Especially considering the adage, "time is money".
