I am not sure what steampunk is really... But if you are looking for a modern/post apoka kind of mud... Then I can recommend the Broken World.
The mud has an original, thought through world. It has a little twist of its own though, to set it apart from other post apoka muds out there. We got so much written about the world so it is hard to pick out something that describes the mud the best. Roleplaying is nice and encouraged, but by far not needed. Basically we like to have fun and enjoy ourselves there and its up to you to decide what is fun for you.
