You seem to be floating from one thought to another. You mentioned fairness, I countered by saying that RL money is simply one of many unfair commodities in a MUD, and compared it to another: time. Having lots of either will give you an edge that could be called unfair.
To address your second sentence, I see no direct correlation between charging people money to play a game, and their desire to play said game... unless you're talking about cognitive dissonance. Are you?
Hey, you're the one that came on an unrelated topic to flame commercial MUDs. If you want to let bygones be bygones, then don't start flames.
