Hello there. You mention medieval fantasy, but I am not sure whether you really want high magic in it.

This is an RPI (Role-Playing Intensive) MUD that focuses on realism, player interaction, crafting, knowledge, exploration and, of course, combat. There's a death system between perma-death and insta-resurrection. Magic exists, but carries a price to cast. No levels, no classes (you can play anything you want since you can learn every single skill), many (I think at least 7 playable and more unplayable ones) races, tons of skills, great community. It dragged me back to MUDding after a 3-4 year absence. If you want an original fantasy world with gothic (the old type, older than Dracule, not modern gothic themes) undertones and a grim'n'gritty theme, you might want to check this out.
