Most LPmuds are based on a 'kill monster' (round robin -- I swing sword, you swing sword) way of doing combat. We are in the midst of developing a more interactive combat, where you can actually aim and also do things like parry blows and shield blocks (if you have a shield).
Rather than just based on your class/guild commands, but certain character stats as well like Agility and Dexterity come into effect on how well your character reacts. The character's 'encumbrance' also plays into the combat as well, meaning if you are heavily loaded, you shouldn't be able to interact as quick as someone that is lightly loaded down.
