For those of you that have been following along closely to The Cathyle Project's progress, we've taken one more step closer.

Currently in Alpha, this summer we expect for major systems in the game to be fully playable, opening the door for our Alpha Team to make suggestions, test balance systems and be the first to experience one of the most massive roleplaying MU* projects to have ever drifted onto the shores of the 'net.

Among the features:
-An entirely custom codebase, programmed in C++ by Brian Lindahl. Every aspect of the gaming environment has been developed with roleplaying in mind and with an attention to detail so vivid, that the line between reality and the world of Cathyle may very well begin to blur.

-Some teasers of some major coded systems:
*Account based OOC forums with discussion boards and chat foyers.
*Non-automated combat.
*Advanced, highly-specific skill system.
*Player-run economic system.
*Four systems of magic with all but one being extremely rare. None of the systems utilize 'spells'.
*Player-run politics with mass combat support.
*Line of sight and dynamic objects.

-A unique theme created by Edward Falconer that is unlike any roleplaying MU* on the 'net today. Set in a middle-fantasy universe with feudalistic politics and an advent known as 'serakin' comparisons have been made to fantasy greats Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind. Yet despite some similarities, The Cathyle Project remains a unique and vastly intriguing world.

-Running on an Enterprise class mainframe with over four processors and two gigabytes of RAM on a Raid 10K RPM filesystem. Downtime and lag are phrases of the past.

-A staff that has proved in these forums and elsewhere they are truly masters of their craft. Creative Director Edward Falconer, Programmer Brian Lindahl, Site Administrator Yui Unifex and Webmaster and RP Coordinator Chris Lazarus are names that should ring.

Beta is still some time away and we'll make no promises that it will be ready before 2003, though progress is being made at a lightning rate. We are, however, accepting applications for the Alpha Team that is already composed of a handful of dedicated individuals.

To apply, send an email to

As we progress, be assured that we'll notify the community that has been both interested and greatfully supportive since the initial conception.

The Project is at work.

Best,
Edward Falconer
