4 Dimesions

As a new player to this VERY in depth MUD I am sure this
will come up as short as can be expected, but, I'm going to
tell you about it anyway!

Almost 20 years in the making this MUD truly shows it. This
is the most fun I have had in years for playing a MUD. I've
been playing nearly 6 years now - not a lot at all compared
to these players on here who have 10 + years on me in THIS
MUD - so needless to say, a very loyal and active player
base. Amazing coding work throughout the game, tons of
zones, so much to do and explore... it is amazing there is a
MUD like this out there, honestly!!

The biggest thing right now going on in game is the new clan
"deed" system. It is fast paced and there are 2 or 3 clans
right now really battling for these things! The fun thing
for me is that it is competitive without a PK element (yet
but I believe there may be soon) because I haven't done PK
in the past. Basically how it works is by killing in any
zone there is a chance of a random "deed" drop, once you
acquire the deed you can put it in your clan deed box and
add to the list of deeds acquired. If someone else hunts in
that area they can steal the deed right out from under you!
Also you can sell the deeds to other players and clans..
tons of things for competition!

But let me say this - Even though this is a huge thing right
now in game there is sooo much more to do in this MUD. There
are tons of quests, a quest academy even to get you to know
how to quest - and you need it! There's trade skills, I love
farming. You can do small crafts like brewing beer, making
thread etc There is so much more than I can explain.

It was said on this same post from MUDconnect (I just copied and pasted cause I'm lazy) that the GUI plugin for MUSHclient is thanks to KaVir. I don't know who that is but I have seen that screen name floating around here I think. Its very awesome. Its got bars for prompt, a great map that works in all zones and there is like... over 100, maybe well over that many zones. Plus pics for the effects on your character, this is a great help for newbies like me! Excellent work.

There is also a new "scalp" code just implemented like.. yesterday so it probably has kinks but it would mostly be beneficial to PKers if you're interested in that but CAN be for everyone if you have a player corpse to scalp. Someone just said they scalped their own corpse and they get bonus stats from it. So from what I get is when you have a scalp and wear it... (gruesome right?) you get bonus stats from that players stats to your own! And even your own stats from your corpse! Sounds nifty and fun right?

***Also an RP option that I would love to see get some more
players since I've recently sent in my app for it!***

Sorry this is hella long just also saw some posts on here about PvE (player vs. environment) and something about exploration and rewards and 4D is great for both of these also. They are both rewards in themselves here because its so deep coding. Have fun.

Come check it out

4 Dimensions has incorporated my GUI snippet, so the map is actually generated on-the-fly, assembled from tiles (a little bit like creating a picture from pieces of a jigsaw puzzle) - that means it'll always work, regardless of how many areas there are.

You can thank Molly for the nice-looking map tiles though, the ones I provided were very basic. The chat window is also a separate plugin, created by Bane. I provided a basic GUI to get the ball rolling, but even that was based on extensive feedback from Molly and support from her coding staff.

Responses to my GUI snippet have generally been somewhat mixed - most mud owners are pretty apathetic about the whole thing, while some even hate the idea of any sort of graphics. Some have shown an interest, incorporating the concept into their own games in some form or another, but very few have fully embraced it to quite the same extent as 4 Dimensions. I'm really looking forward to seeing where they take it next.

I think a screenshot is appropriate at this point:

The graphical interface looks splendid.

One thing that the webpage could make clearer is the point of playing a Gringo rather than an Indian (apart form roleplaying interest). From the webpage, it looks like an Indian is mechanically a Gringo with +10 Attack and +10 Melee Damage.

Re: 4 Dimesions

I've been playing this recently and really enjoying the heck out of it.

The chance to play PvE outside of a medieval setting has been great and the community is extremely helpful and friendly to newbies.

Thumbs up!
