Open since '99 The Sea of Storms or TSOS as we fondly refer to it has been one of the few levelless classless muds that operate under the 'Wheel of Time' By Robert Jordan theme. A dedicated Immortal staff and players who have been around for years. The Sea of Storms is the place to go if you want a unique mesh of code RP and PKing.

The Sea of Storms is a Wheel of Time MUD based on very heavily
modified SMAUG and is primarily focused on role play. The code is
designed to emulate the world created by Robert Jordan in exquisite
detail and provide the basis for an in depth role playing
environment.

We are also one of the only true leveless WoT MUDs out there.
Advancement is based upon use and observation of skills,
weaves, flows, and weapon forms.

Perhaps the biggest bonus, however, is that our timeline
is independant from that of the books. This allows the
players at The Sea of Storms to truly be in control of their
own environment, and not be subject to the same tired plotline
where everyone knows what's going to happen.

Get involved in political intrigue in Cairhien, rise through the
ranks of the Aes Sedai, fight alongside the Borderguard, or even
just run your own shop. The possibilities are endless.

Just some of our innovative code features include a totally unique
channeling system; an all-original combat system with weapon forms
for six different weapons totalling almost 300 forms; there's also
multi-guilding, color customization, and weapon and armor forging
to match our custom layering system. Other features to be found
include a dreamworld, wolfkin, angreal, ter'angreal, and
pets/mounts that will save right along with you.

Yes we have skills, weapon forms, and weaves. It is part of our rather fun code element. All skills and forms are actually only attainable via RP lessons or an application only sset to the staff. Weaves however can be obtained via the experiment skill that channelers get. I'd still like to think that our dedication to IC realism and our constant offering of events would put us somewhere in an RP mud category but that would be up to each player who tries out the mud!

We've also added a new rumor board as a way to announce events so everyone can know of the rumors in cairhien and have it in their RP lives.

On The Sea of Storms we are currently looking for a few roles of our own to be filled.

Cairhien Nobles - Minor and Major alike we require Nobles to help maintain the cities political strength compared to other nations and via for the throne that King Laman currently holds.

Aes Sedai - Women of power women of The Power as some call them. Aes Sedai travel far and wide and their wile and influence far exceeds the distance they can travel physically. We require a few more Aes Sedai in the world.

City Guardsmen [Cairhien] - We need city guardsmen to keep the peace and obey whoever happens to bribe them the most or perhaps actually remain loyal to the city. It is Cairhien after all.

Children of the Light - The land is seeped with shadow. Male channelers attack the places you frequent and lands begrudgingly allow you to remove their darkfriends. The world needs these men of righteousness to guide it.

Cairhien Nobles [Partially Filled] We are still looking for two or three more nobles. These will be for House Riatin and House Saighan.

Children of The Light [Always Recruiting] Senior Squadman Khaine and Squadman Iudex have successfully waylaid the Aes Sedai attempt to move the rogue channeler to Tar Valon for gentling. Although the channeler was not apprehended one of the witches was slain. They are still looking for new soldiers for the light to help them in their efforts to rid the world of dark friends.

[New Positions]
Thief Catchers - The world is a dangerous place and full of crime and secrets. Thief catchers capture those who break the peace and law for a price of course.

The reclaiming of Malkier by the borderlands has failed but a new area in Tarwin's Gap called 'The Citadel' has been established as a bulwark against the threat of shadowspawn and the blight. In the south Illian and Tear position for war while trade caravans vanished and pirates loot and pillage along the coast of The Sea of Storms.

A quick update from our Asst Imp Luthien!

Some people have likely noticed a couple small changes here and there to some things in the game over the past month. So, here are four things of note for people:

* Guild Removal: With the descent into madness of Ruben, the Dragonsworn has fractured, and has been dissolved.
* Guild Addition: In its place we have added back Riatin and Saighan, two noble houses centered in Cairhien. You'll find them on the guilds list, as well as on the discussion board and in the TSoS Wiki.
* Staff Addition: We have added a new Event Immortal, Percival. Many of you have likely seen him around, so feel free to put him to work! We're still considering adding perhaps one more position at the present time.
* Area Addition: Over the course of one day we cooked up a hasty addition to our fleet of areas. Players can now find an area for Tarwin's Gap up where it should be along the Blight Border. It was installed partly for an Event that was passing through the Gap, but also to provide a staging area for future RPs that may need to make use of that locale. The area was done quickly, so feel free to point out changes or additions you think should be made. The current state of the area reflects the IC situation, so it is designed to change over time.

There've been a couple small code changes as well, though nothing worth highlighting just yet. More substantial changes are looming on the horizon.
