Go with Diku or one of its derivatives. Stay away from advanced stackmachine based codebases like ldmud or genesis.

i agree, go with a diku based mud.. Like Merc, Smaug, Rom, Something like that..

I personaly prefer Rom, i find it easy to code in, but i've been hearing allot about smaug being easier to code in. Its a personal preferance.

Heya,

Well there are some muds called tiny mud or simple mud I believe. They are very small. Just look on ftp.game.org and pick a view. Smaug is rather big still.

Lots of Pointers you say.. (snickers) i never would of guessed.

I personaly am a Rom fan, i find it to be quite easy, despite the abundance of pointers(snickers)

as for perl mud, thats fine an dandy, if you know perl.
