Many games have interesting areas to explore. Some games offer experience points for exploring. Now Karinth goes one step further, allowing explorers to leave their permanent mark on the map, claiming discoveries and making their knowledge available to the world.

How is this done? As you come across something interesting in our vast world, your character can use a journal to note it down. This can then be turned in at a library to archive the knowledge. Not only do you receive some experience for this discovery, but all of these pieces of information are automatically collated and sorted into an online bestiary and list of equipment, citing the finder's name for posterity. You add directly to the world's knowledge, which can later be used by others.

If this isn't enough to quench your thirst for discovery, we also have Explorer Stones, landmarks scattered all across the world, granting a boon to those who come across them. With these new additions, being a voracious explorer and seeking out new knowledge is another viable way to level without drenching your hands with the blood of thousands.

In order for everyone to have a fair chance at making these new discoveries, the journaling system will be enabled on Saturday, September 16, at noon Pacific time. Even if you've never played Karinth before, you have a chance to get your name on the lists and be rewarded for learning about the world, so I invite you to join us in cataloguing the lands for posterity.

History always remembers the intrepid explorers, and now Karinth does too. Leave your mark upon the vast world, and become the Legend at .

I've been tempted for a while to check out Karinth. I've explored the website quite a bit. Does the game happen to have an herbalism/plants or a hunting/trapping system? I absolutely enjoy the exploration factor of a game. Discovering new locations and new denizens is always fun but for myself one of the best parts in exploring a game is the flora and fauna. Finding new flowers, trees, herbs to collect, as well as being able to hunt and skin various creatures for their hides, truly adds to the joy in mapping an area in a game.

Thanks for your interest, Traveler.

Herbalism, hunting/skinning and other professions are in the process of being implemented. Currently what we have pertains to the support for that system - you are able to watch out for different resources (such as plants), and land and sea traderoutes are ready to support merchants, both players and NPCs. The commands to manipulate resources and create things from them are not ready as of yet, although we are definitely getting there.

However, aside from the professions module, there is plenty to find when exploring areas. Pretty much every area in game has neat things to discover, mini-quests and the like. Do come and check us out if you'd like, we're always willing to give any help that is needed.

Just a bit less than an hour before the Explorer Journalist races kick off. Hint - get your character made and into the game soon:

Find Alistair (just north of where you start)
Train journalstone 1 degree
Train Explorer Journalist 1-2 degrees
Scribe a spell using journalstone
Get your journals made by using the spell you just scribed.

Holler on QA if you need guidance.
