We have shaped and fashioned a unique, intense, extremely immersive textural environment for you and filled it with the tools needed for people like yourself to explore and express your imagination and creativity. Ours is a community of aspiring and accomplished authors, actors, adventurers, administrators and analysts. We offer a role-play intensive world to take your place within, whether your wish is to found a homestead, an empire, or perhaps a personality only spoken of in whispers. Our world offers the chance to live as one of many races; our mechanics designed so the world functions, interacting and supporting you, without being visible as mechanics. There are no levels, no classes - what you do and experience is what you shall learn, what you seek is what you shall become. Our world is one of darkness, danger, and deep mystery. There is no website with all (or even the most simple) secrets revealed. We ask our players not to talk of the game to each other or anyone; it is designed to be learned about from within as you play and roleplay within it. There are secrets within the world not yet discovered by anyone but their creators - will you be the one to be the first to discover and understand something that no player before you has ever seen?


An introductory experience, a 'roleplay event' designed for assisting new players in learning how to interact with the basics of the gameworld and in finding each other within it is offered on Wednesday, 11-28-07 at 5:30 PM, PST.

You may wish to connect to the world before then to create your character and begin your explorations, and you are very welcome to. Most players come to us outside such an event and find success and excitement on their own. This event is intended to assist and enrich your experiences, but is not the only successful path into the world. Some players prefer some assistance, a guide into the possibilities and techniques of what the game world offers instead of fully self directed exploration. This event is designed to be a fully roleplayed experience to help new and less experienced players get their feet under them and begin to find their way and each other within the wide world. There are some players as well who have tried Accursed Lands in the past and had some difficulty in finding other players to interact with and learn from. The world is wide, and learning where to go to find the others within it can be a challenge. This event is designed to give a way to do this more easily. If you have tried us and left from loneliness, I invite you as well; please attend. This event will ensure you are not lonely.

If you would like to participate, please either bring your character to the city "Forest Heart", at its main message board at 5:30 PM PST on Wednesday 11-28-7, or if you are creating new for the first time, please select the 'rp hub' as your starting location and then go all west from there. You will never hear directions like this again within the game world - such 'out of character' ways of speaking are replaced by the ways of roleplay and speaking within the game world. I am certain you will find it an exciting, interesting world to explore and become the person you wish to roleplay being.

I'm happy to report that the roleplay event went well; everyone involved seems satisfied that it was a smashing success. Accursed Lands is unlike most other MUDs, with a ton of custom, high-quality code and an original theme. Unfortunately, the number one criticism from new players is that our MUD is difficult to learn, and the second criticism is that it is difficult to find other players to RP with (even though others are logged on) because the world is so large. We have been making great strides with our "newbie-friendliness" lately, and this sort of roleplaying event is one aspect of our new strategy to retain more of the players who give us a try.

Another newbie roleplaying event in the same vein is scheduled for Saturday, December 1st, at 9:30am PST. If you are in the mood to try out a new MUD, or you had trouble with Accursed Lands the first time you gave it a shot, we hope you'll take advantage of this roleplay event.
