This is a courtesy reminder that the Code Challenge in the code repository area is ending in 7 days.

There are some wonderful people that are providing some wonderful prizes to text game developers. Betterbox, MudMagic, SimplMu Client, MudWorld, MudDomain, and Legends of Karinth have all put up tangible prizes ranging from free registered client copies, to $50.00 Amazon gift certificate, to free mud hosting. Currently 6 games are providing some in-game perks to challenge winners as well.

You can upload your submission at:

and choose 'Code Challenge' as the category.

Uploaded Code Challenge submissions will stay in que status untill the end of the deadline date. All code challenges that are in the Code Challenge category upon challenge close will then be made available for download and the judges will begin their review.

Please keep in mind the Licensing restrictions for the challenge. If you'd like to introduce your library under a different license; it is too late to do so for this challenge; but feel free to discuss it in an open forum for developer feedback on the introduction of the license to the code challenge. Current licenses supported by the challenge are: FreeBSD (2 or 3 clause) and Public Domain.

This is just a reminder that the 2nd Code Challenge will be ending on February 27th. For those developers partaking in the challenge - now is the time to start wrapping up the work and fine tuning the documentation.

MudMagic has sponsored 3 prizes - and a number of text games are providing in-game bonuses to the winners ( but we all know coders do it just to show off =)

The Challenge is for a Command Parsing Library. The end result is to provide a mud coder with functionality which will allow them to let their players input different commands that triggers the same functionality.

Example:
put the sword and axe in my pack
open up my second container (an exit: 'up' will also be present)
look inside the container
get sword
get sword pack
get second sword pack
get 2.sword pack
g 2.sw pa
g #2sw pa
g 3.sword
open the east door
open the door west
