MURPE MU* Hosting Services is currently looking to update its clientel database and help give something back to the mudding community. As a result, we are willing to provide (3) three FREE basic account packages to the mud community. The basic account (usually $5.00/Month) is equipped with 32 MB of Ram, 250 MB of quota'd disk space, 1 MySQL database, and 2 TCP Listening ports. Apache/PHP/CGI-Bin webpage access is also available for these accounts as well.

Account Restrictions:
1) Account must be used for mud/mush/mu* game use and not for personal storage use.
2) Account is free as long as our hosting banner is displayed on your website. (Preview of our banners can be found )
3) Account administrators must follow our Terms of Service agreement.

If you are interested, please e-mail us @ with details for your mud, codebase you intend to use, and the theme of the game.

Note: We aren't asking for positions on your game as we have our own games to develop and support.

I got a questions for some users (btw thanks)...

Q) How many FREE hosting accounts are being offered?
A) We are offering (3) three at this time.

Q) When does the offer expire?
A) Once all (3) three accounts have been applied for and accepted.

Q) When does the FREE MU* Hosting agreement run out?
A) As long as our hosting banner is found on your game site's webpage, the account will remain free.

Q) What happens if I need additional HD space, Ram, or TCP ports?
A) Since the FREE offer is for a basic account, we would request that you purchase an upgrade to our Premier or Ultimate package accounts.

Q) What are the specs, OS and network the server currently running?
A) The game server is running on a SuperMicro Dual Intel P4 Xeon 2.0Ghz CPUs w/ 16 GB of ECC Ram, 115 GB SCSI-LVD hard drives, and a bonded giganet network connection, tied into a redundant OC-3 backbone (serviced by Bellsouth & UUNet). The OS is SuSe Linux Pro v9.0.

Q) Why are you doing this?
A) MultiUser RolePlay Entertainment is in the business for developing free & commercial online games and providing MU* hosting services. Since the server was originally intended as a replacement for an older Slackware server, the new one was just going to waste with just a few MU*'s currently running on it, so it was advised that we branch out a bit and help the MU* community a bit.

Due to overwheming response from the MU* community and the submittals of unique themes (not like several hundred boring hack-n-slash MU*s), the number of FREE basic package open slots has been increased to (10) TEN. Open slots are filled on a submission of the type of codebased used & the unique theme to your game (i.e. the more unique, the better your chances are of getting a slot).

All we ask is that these simple rules are followed:
1) Account must be used for mud/mush/mu* game use and not for personal storage use.
2) Account is free as long as our hosting banner is displayed on your game's website.
3) Account administrators must follow our Terms of Service agreement.

Also, for those wishing to help with our marketing to attract new, paying customers and, in turn, being rewarded with an upgraded account package -- please review our .

Alot of users had their sites found on Geocities.com sites, thus were limiting the amount of times their site could be seen w/ our hosting banner. Thus, we have also added a small update to the restrictions for having an account hosted:

4) Your game must have a website and the website MUST reside on our server along with our MURPE hosting banner (either the 468x60 or 81x33 sized banner).

There are still more free hosting slots available (4 out of 10 as of this posting). Remember: the more unique, the better your chances are of getting a slot!

Hello All...

We have filled up our free hosting slots, but have added a new Sponsorship package for those that wish to have their game world hosted with us. This is not a totally 'free game hosting account', but a way to help attract new customers to our site while allowing you to host your game for free.
