My computer science professor wants me to move up to a higher level class (I'm a freshman in college, he wants me to take a senior course).
Now, why is this? I was happy with Intro. to Comp Sci, it let me do homework for other classes. Well, I accidently gave myself away after the professor said you had to loop to the end of a file if you want to not overwrite it...I foolishly pointed out the obvious: "uh...couldn't you just open it in append mode?"...turns out he didn't know what ios::app means, and so now he wants to boot me into a more advanced class! Dammit. At least I'll be able to get into a class that meets later in the day. |

Isn't taking more advanced classes a good thing? =)

A comp sci teacher that didn't know how to append files efficiently? Rather than boot you up to advanced comp sci, they should send HIM to basic comp sci. Heck I still don't quite understand pointers, and even *I* knew about that!
R - who took only Intro and Advanced VB, and Intro to C++ in the local community college for kicks. |

Don't do it - you're a freshman, you should enjoy the easy ride while it lasts. Your GPA will thank you. There will be plenty of time to "challenge yourself" later. Just my two farthings.
