Opening Browser Windows

Is it possible to have a MUD launch a browser window and go to a specific address, without the user needing to click on an address? For example, is there a way for the telnet/MUD client to send a specific message telling the PC to do so? (Although I realize there's a serious security / malignancy issue associated with this.)

Re: Opening Browser Windows

The *client* can do that. Whether it has that kind of functionality is another question. Whether it's enabled by default or has to be enabled by the user configuring the client is another question. Whether your server knows what client is being used, and whether that client supports the function, and what to send it to cause this to happen...

If you have control over the client, then that's trivial. But since you're asking, my guess is you don't?

Re: Opening Browser Windows

There are several clients that can open a browser window, but it's usually done by clicking on a hyperlink. What you're talking about are automatic pop-ups, right? Eg, when you connect to the mud it automatically opens one or more browser windows?

You could do that in Mudlet using the autoinstaller, but it would be pretty annoying, and I wouldn't be surprised if your players just switched to another client.

What exactly are you trying to do?
