Players of Legends of Terris can choose from a very wide assortment of characters. Most places offer you your race and class. Terris goes one step further and has your guild be a choice. That means your Gnome Berserker can have a place in the Rangers Guild just as well as your Half-Elf Ranger could. But this dosn't just mean you are in that guild and now you're done. The guilds are a step that new characters should (though you don't have to) take in their journey to power. When you create your character you are rather standard, you have a few stat and skill differences than others, but when you join a guild those all change dramaticaly. Each guild has set rules that all members follow to a point in character and the characters you create can be as diverse as you wish.

Below is the sampling of all of the Race/Class/Guild types, and they can be combined any way you wish.

Races
Human
Dwarf
Gnome
Elf
Halfing
Half-Elf
Half-Ogre
Half-Orc
Half-Giant
Lizardman (Saurian)
Sprite
Minotaur
Centaur
Dark Elf
Dragon Kin
Catline

Classes
Fighter
Wizard
Thief
Shaman
Sorcerer
Berserker
Ranger
Battlemage
Monk

Guilds
Assassins
Barbarians
Battlemages
Brotherhood
Druids
Enchanters
Knights
Monks
Rangers
Rogues
Thieves
Warlocks
Wizards

On top of just these basic features, Terris also includes one of the most advanced (and yet surprisingly simple) quest series that I have yet to see. The quests make good sense RPly and they will give you certain amounts of experiance depending on the quest, some give you a few points and others can level you in a single shot. But that's not to say that levels are easy in Terris. Players who have been here for more than 10 years have yet to reach the top tier of levels, not due to it's dificulty (though it's not easy) but due to the complexity of the life that you will find in Terris.

I suggest you try it though, my word is only so good and there ARE other games out there that you could try, but after you play terris for a week or so, you won't remember any of those.
