just thought I'd drop my 2cc

guys, please, this is not so good for everyone, the "anti-spammer" group flaming the "spammer" group and viceversa, this is only becoming more and more boring.

1- the anti-spam group is right, people should stop spamming, makes reading more confortable.
2-the spam group is right that the actions taken were way too hard.
seem's everyone has a point, so why not handshake and make up?.

I personally think spam is bad, but spam could be treated in a better way(perhaps making spam.com? hmm....)

Mia: My definition of spam remains the same, and has not changed.

I rarely post any "me too!" posts that are comprised entirely of one word, or one line. That is what I was flaming, and a large part of the boards were flaming.

Ruobhe: Sure. I'll give up my flaming when the spam group (Xanferious, Ingham/Seth, and Shao_Long) admit that they have spammed, apologize for it, and promise not to do it again. Note that Likita is not part of that group now - Likita did that. If Likita did that, I am sure the spammer group can easily do it as well.

dulan, did you not read my post?!?!? just because i apologized doesn't mean i'm any different than the other guys, i just was tired of hearing all the ####. and you can fix the shao problem, like i said... and i do believe that spamming is defined (partially) as saying the same thing over and over....? well, look who's guilty of that.

Spammings definition varies, Likita.

As for the rest - You apologized. You are far different then that little group of spammers. You actually have the maturity to realize when you are wrong, and are able to apologize for it.

Am I "spamming"? By most definitions, no. However, there are a few definitions that are wide enough that would imply that I spam. But, those definitions would also imply that a large part of the posters on this thread and other threads, including Orion, Molly, Threshold, etc., spams. And that does not happen. Simply because I am more vocal about being anti-spam does not make me a spammer by any means. Unless, of course, you use said wide definitions - and if you do, accuse everyone involved of spamming, not just one person.

There is a point where repetitive messages start becoming spam. In my opinion you passed that point long ago, and are now not a bit better than the people you are flaming.

Also, the initial spam had at least some attempt at humour in it, until you barged in with the hatchet and axe. There is not even the slightest humour, tolerance or even detachment in what you are doing. You could at least have tried to explain the unwritten rules of the board to an obvious newcomer in a reasonably polite manner, (as some other people did). Instead you were quite unnecessarily rude and offensive, and that flame of yours triggered about 95% of the ensuing spam.

Shao_Long, I had some initial sympathy for you, but you are wearing it out fast now. The fact that Dulan is acting equally silly is really no excuse. If you are not going to apologise, at least - for your own sake and that of the community - try not to respond to any more of his posts. All that can be said in this matter has already been said, and way too many times too.

So many of you kept saying that the mod's never said drop it etc. Well, the moderator of this forum is telling you to drop it or take it elsewhere.

Xanferious you spam... regardless of what you may think, or how you may feel, you spam. Period. You post material that provides no actual content to a thread (read the definition of spam in the Laws of the Tavern post), aside from possibly making you feel as though you've been justified... and that is spam. S-P-A-M, say it with me now... spam.

Now, as for the degeneration of posts into flame wars, I don't want to see it anymore. If you absolutely must taunt someone keep it in the [FLAME] thread. I'll create it in a few minutes... you can post all your taunts there and everyone can damn well avoid it if they want... instead of having to see all your pointless attacks on one another ruin the REST of the threads here...

As long as you stay on the topic of posts in which you're posting, we should all get along just fine. Deal? Good.
