Achaea in The Atlantic

One of my favorite publications - the Atlantic - recently did a story about empty, "dead" places in worlds like Second Life. Someone linked me to it and I was completely (and happily!) shocked to discover that the author opened and closed the article by talking about Achaea and contrasting it with the dead worlds the article was about. She didn't name it for whatever reason, but there's no mistaking it, and it was easy to find the author's character, which had recently logged in for the first time in years.

My favorite quote from it, about :

"It’s still running today, and it remains immersive to an astonishing degree, even compared with contemporary games—it has its own social mores, cultural life, history and folklore. Its political systems are complicated and well-developed, and to this day I still use some of the slang terms that were common."
