A look in the Tristone Part 1 (Roleplay log from Avendar: The Crucible of Legends)

You begin dreaming-- strange abstract dreams, as you retain the feeling of lightness, of otherness.

In you dreams, you feel a cold wind brush your face. You half-realize that this feeling is not from a dream, and you begin to stir.

You wake and stand up.

A White Plain
You find yourself on a high hillock in the middle of a broad, expansive
plain. Far in the distance on all sides, a bluish haze on the horizon
indicates the presence of distant mountain ranges. The plains are a
cream-white color, from the dried long-stemmed grasses that cover the chalky
soil. Like a shimmering silver snake, a meandering river winds its way
across the plain. It runs around the base of the hill, and on into the
distance. Something about the entire landscape before you seems altered,
unreal--and in a way, insubstantial. You do sense that there one completely
solid, concrete object near you, and it is a massive triangle of weathered
stone which hovers just above the ground, a short distance away from you.

[Exits: none]

Togorth blinks his eyes and looks around slowly.

You think 'What.. What is this place?'

Togorth looks over and sees the large tristone and he gasps slightly.

You think 'My.. Is that?'

The tristone shimmers faintly, giving off a soft light.

You think 'It is.. It is the Tristone.'

The wind rustles and whispers around you. Slowly you realize that words are intertwined with the rustling breeze, and you begin to make them out.

A soft voice whispers with the wind: 'Togorth, my true servant.'

Togorth bows his head slightly, but then he raises his head slowly, listening to the voice.

You think 'It.. It is Lady Enaerai.. Mi'Lady Enaerai..'

The voice whispers with the wind: 'Come.' The tristone begins to shimmer more intensely, as if beckoning you toward it.

Togorth walks towards the tristone slowly. His eyes widen as he nears it.

As you approach the tristone, you see that within its stone framing, a haze of colors and images coalesce.

Within the stone frame, a clear picture at last forms. You see your younger self, taking the oath of Knighthood.

The image fades, and is replaced by another: You, a young knight, standing before the fortress with older Knights whose time has since past.

You think 'Lord Xenelien... All of them.. I became what some of them sought in a Knight.. I did not quit.'

A series of images quickly pass before your eyes. You see yourself engaged in battle in Aramril, in the dark Halls, in the Halls of Law. You see yourself in council with Knights. You see yourself arguing, you see yourself enjoying times of respit

.. You see yourself enjoying times of respite. At last, you see yourself taking the oath of Knight Lord before Irionne.

The wind picks up, the grasses stirring restlessly over the hill. In the wind, as before, you hear a voice, now more distinct.

The voice echoes around you with the wind: 'Togorth, my true servant. Ever have you been faithful to the oath, and made your best efforts.'

The voice continues, ringing with the rising wind over the plain: 'What would you ask of me, as compensation for the service you have rendered?'

Togorth looks up, and after a moment of silence he says, 'I would ask that I be able to continue in my service, Mi'Lady.'

Togorth ignores his aching stomach.

A faint, warmly amused laugh ripples through the air. The voice responds with the wind: 'Granted. And what more might I give you, Togorth?'

Togorth You feel refreshed as the breezes whistles around you.

Togorth tilts his head, 'All I seek is to serve you, Mi'Lady.. I am an Old man to my people, but I do not seek to be on my death bed any time soon. Knowledge to serve you, strength to carry out your will, and time to serve you longer.. '

Togorth shrugs, 'I seek nothing else than my service to you.'

Within the tristone, another image forms. You see a raggedly dressed man with unusual features and intense eyes.

You see the man walking down a dark road, looking about intently, as if searching. He has a weary look on his face.

The image shifts, and you see a torch-lit, smoky chamber. Dark, eyeless figures in black robes convene, muttering together in their guttural tongue.

You see them argue over something, and pass among them a scroll with an illustration of a strange, misshapen stone.

Those images fade, and are replaced by another. You see a very old alatharya gripping an axe in his large, but weakening hand. You realize it is yourself.

The image grows vague, but you see yourself involved in a battle. Others strike against you, and it seems as if two of your foes wear the grey tabard of the Knights.

The image grows more vague, and you remain uncertain of what the last image truly revealed.

You think 'Wha..What was that? Knights.. Fighting me?'

Suddenly, the images are replaced by yet another. A single eye gazes upon you from the tristone, locked upon you as if measuring your very soul.

The image draws back, receding into the distance, and you see that it is but one image in the face of mighty alatharya warrior.

The warrior, surrounded in a nimbus of shimmering silver and bedecked in armor white and black, looks at you, his expression unreadable.

You think 'I do not know what all this means.. But I will continue in my duty..'
You think 'My.. An Alatharya. Is that me, or.. another who comes?'
