When I started mudding, the majority of players were University students who were studying computer-related subjects. That field of study tends to be extremely male-dominated, so hardly surprising there were very few female players.
These days the internet is widely available to everyone, and I think that tends to be reflected by the ratio of male/female players. |

I think you're also gonna find that the results are going to be slightly skewered on the forums, just about all the lady admins I know read and post on sites like this, but only a few of the guys do.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I think there's another reason why females may outnumber males. You'll most likely get a similar number of both who work outside the home for a living and play after work or from work; but even today, the majority of parents staying home to take care of young children are females. This means there are more of us who have the free time to be able to be here.

Well, that might be a reason... And it's not really a sexist reason either, because young children are more at ease with their mother. Mainly because they bond more easily with their mother then with their father.

That's strictly a matter of opinion. Why do you think it's a bad thing? Anyone outnumbering the other, is not a bad thing as you so put it.
