I plan to bake some banana bread tomorrow, I'm still waiting for the bananas
to fully ripen.

I've modified the basic recipe slightly by adding walnuts and increasing the
amount of cinnamon by one half teaspoon. Because I'm crazy about cinnamon!
I also added a teaspoon of vanilla which may be slightly unconventional for
banana bread but I think it will compliment the banana nicely.

I almost added oats, because I had some lying around and I like to use stuff,
but then I would've had to call it banana oat bread (or something) and this
would probably require me to change the various quantities of other
ingredients and possibly alter the entire recipe significantly. So I stuck
with the KISS principle (as best I could) and omitted the oats. Also, I'm
sure banana oat bread has already been discovered, so it's not like it
would've been a culinary breakthrough or anything. The potential rewards did
not outweigh the risks, so to speak. Of course, I could've just "Googled"
the recipe for banana oat bread, but then, where is the fun in that!

OK, enough chatter, here's the recipe.


UNCONVENTIONAL BANANA BREAD
=============================

1 cup sugar
1 stick butter
2 large eggs
3 ripe banana
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts

Preheat oven to 325 (F). Take a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan (or close enough). Lube
the pan with butter.

Slice up the stick of butter into tablespoon portions and let it reach room
temperature. I usually to allow the eggs to also reach room temperature.

Cream the butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat
the eggs into the fluff.

Mix the dry ingredients together.

Mash the bananas with the tablespoon of milk.

Mix it all together until it resembles batter.

Mix the walnuts into the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake at least 1 hour maybe
a little longer.

You should be able to smell it when it's done. You could poke it with a
toothpick, but this technique should be used with care.

Set it on a rack and let it cool for 15-20 minutes.

That's it, I probably forgot a detail or two, though nothing important I'm
sure.

Thanks, I picked her up at a yard sale. She came with a free patch kit and a
bicycle pump. She's a little on the quiet side but she's an awesome swimmer.

Simple but healthful quick-eats for gaming:

Oatmeal Cookie Oatmeal:

1/3 cup quick oats in a cereal bowl. (Not instant - quick oats are normal oats that have been milled a little finer than usual and therefore will coagulate quicker when cooked)

2/3 cup water plus 1 more tablespoon of water in the bowl.

Nuke for 60 seconds, regular power.

Remove bowl - add 1 tablespoon butter, stir well, nuke again for up to 30 seconds, or when it looks like it's just about to start erupting like a volcano - whichever is first.

Remove bowl - add 1 firmly-pressed tablespoon of dark brown sugar, and 1 palmful of raisins. Sprinkle around 1/4 teaspoon powdered cinnamon in - mix it all up. Do not add milk.

Eat while hot.

I want you to change that screen name but no more underscores just LowCarbGamer. Underscores went out with Windows 3.2 when 8 bit file names were replaced.

I don't know anyone personally who ever used 3.2. But then, I don't know anyone personally who had any use or need for a Chinese version of win3.x (which is what 3.2 was).

I used to type out my recipes on MultiMate, back when I had a DOS machine though
