Joining the club, I made a socket version of my codebase available.

SocketAscendant is written in C++ and has been tested and compiles under windows, linux, and FreeBSD.  It is released to the public domain.

A VS 6.0 and VS.net project file is at .

A .tgz release is at .

Actually, I'm more interested in the prototypes of C/C++ socket functions and if they are publically available, some lower level network functions. I got this book about C/C++ from college but it covers the basics like functions, arrays, pointers, classes, templates... That kind of stuff, no networking... :-(

I'm sorry it's not to your interest.  I'm not even clear on what exactly you are interested in.  Socket functions are functions like any other.  You pass them parameters, they perform some task, and return a value.  They aren't some special subset of the language you need to learn.  If you're looking for something that focuses just on the socket functions that's what things like Beej's guide is out there for.
