The Enormous Cavern of Narblazu, the Lord of Demons
This hidden abode is enormous in size.  Even a faint sound echoes off the
cavernous expanses.  Flickering torchlight reveals the entire expanses in full,
patches of flayed skin and bowels adorning the entire scene.  Lining the walls
are grizzled human remains, their skulls and other various bodyparts hanging
limply from large iron spikes driven through them into the stony walls beyond.
Large pools of blood lie scattered amid the scarred floor, slowly clotting in
the cool cavern air.  Along the north wall rests a large throne.  Several
different skulls and bones were used to construct this monistary.  A dual pair
of grinning skulls make up the handrests, and a humanoid femur makes up the
armrest.  A large set of ribs make up the back of the throne, several of the
bony ribs still clinging to small bits of flesh.  Although it does not seem
possible, this room was crafted by pure evil, and still holds the essence of
death about its stony expanses.
Narblazu, the Lord of Demons sits here in a throne made from bone.

What was the point of posting that, besides pointing out that your crappy builders can't spell "monastery" and that your MUD is too cheap to care?
I know-- it's part of a revolutionary new MUD technology:  Why waste your own HD space to store roomdescs when you can store them at topmudsites.com and have your MUD temporarily download them when players enter the room?  Ingenius!
If you were trying to impress us, hoping that, like lemmings, we would drop our own MUD endeavors and come running to devote our lives to your miserable excuse for a MUD, perhaps you ought to have posted something unique to your MUD:  I hate to break it to you, but your radical "hey let's make it so when they enter a room they see a ROOM DESC!!!!!11!!!" idea is _not_ as original as you thought.
But, just to remain on topic, here is a roomdescription of my own.

The Wastelands of Sharune
A bleak, boring lanscape arises like a sore on the face of the world.  A frantic search for any form of intelligent life reveals naught.  The forlorn winds bring only the stench of wasted time, and the sky is alive with the flocks of carrion searching for adventurers who have perished from sheer boredom.  The awful still is pierced only by the periodic trumpet from the heavens, an incessant braying which endlessly repeats "GO VOTE FOR US AT TOPMUDSITES.COM AND WE'LL HAVE A DOUBLE EXPERIENCE DAY!!!!!!"  There is an almost tangible aura of gloom emanating from the very earth itself, filling all but the most steeled with the passionate desire to shoot themselves in the freaking face.
The Newbie MOB is standing here.  Say "level" to get free level spells, 20million coins, free advancement to level 30, and a full set of equipment.

Dude, you got some serious attitude problems.

But here you get an unique feature too, and it will save us some HD space from the helpfile database! Man, this will surely save resources.
Keeps are special locations spead out through the world. These keeps can be
raided and sacked, making the racewar side(and guild) of the raiders stronger.

The racewar side that has a majority of the keeps (minimum 7) will gain
special benifits. The low level characters(below level 36) of a racewar side
will also gain these special benifits if they have conquered all three keeps on
the battlefield island. (See help BATTLEFIELD).

To take over a keep you must use the SAC command. For more information about
this command read help SAC.

To see a current list of the keeps status you can use the KEEPS command by
simply typing; keeps

The benefits for the guild which owns keeps are;
- Monetary income
2 copper / level 20 keep / real life hour
1 bronze / level 30 keep / real life hour
2 bronze / level 40 keep / real life hour
5 bronze / level 50 keep / real life hour

- Portal (if the guild has a portal the portal will lead to all keeps
controlled by the guild)

The benifits for the racewar side with majority of the keeps are;
- 25% experience bonus.
- 30% faster mem times.
- 50% less exp penalty after death.
Erdos is for sure not working at sharune. If he has a player there, give me the IP and i'l delete it immediately with a big smile on my face.

I haven't read this much bull**** on these boards for a long, long time.

Pure bull****. Maybe they have that at the ****hole erdos crawled out from, but we sure dont do that in sharune.

Just a general comment: Rudeness aside, erdos does make a valid point - if you're going to advertise your mud by posting one its room descriptions (presumably a boast of the quality of the rooms), you really should remember to spellcheck it first.

Yep, should have done that. I'll blame the builders! *joke*.

Of course they can - but when you post a room description as an example of the quality of your mud, and that description has a spelling mistake in it, it's unlikely to give the impression of quality that you intended. Remember that (most) muds are purely a text-based medium, and most people would expect the mud owner to use their best room description within the advert.

If I advertised a pure PK mud by posting a log of a combat sequence, what impression would you get if the mud crashed part way through the logged fight that I posted?

My post wasn't so much directed at Hephos, but was rather a general comment aimed at everyone. No mud is perfect, and everyone ends up overlooking a few things, but its important to take a little extra time to proof-check your adverts.

Well call it a human error, or a glitch in the matrix. I should have had proof read it a bit deeper (english and grammar is not my strong area, im a programmer).

I can asure everyone that when it comes to zone quality Sharûne is in the top ranks of the existing muds though, take your time and find out by yourself.

I'm not our head builder, or in charge of anything that has to do with zones, unfortunately with my bad english skills i chosed a bad room, (which imo was nice and made my spine tickle).

On a side note, i might add that we recently added a new spirit master class, that travels the spiritual plane and enthralls spirits, and a warrior monk that uses martial arts and a unique chant system to utilize ki power.

Best regards to everyone,
