I've found Arm lacking in some ways, though the same applies to the other two RPIs, Harshlands and Shadows of Isildur, as well. Each has its own strength. Code-wise, SoI is superior. Harshlands has a more realistic environment. Arm has the larger playerbase. These differences are slowly changing though as SoI's pbase rapidly grows to challenge Arm's numbers and Harshlands incorporates SoI's code.

Depending upon what player you encounter, the quality of RP will vary on each of them. I've had good RP encounters on all 3, but also poor RP encounters as well. I've never had a character killed on HL or SoI, but it's happened twice on Armageddon, once without any RP whatsoever (not a good sign, but I won't call this the norm).

I set out to analyze RPI MUDs some time ago, and tried to "rate" them via code (features, options, etc), world design, staff and player quality/size, and role-play. HL ended up with a 91.0% rating, SoI a 90.5%, and Arm an 88.5% (they each had their own strengths) based on the features and quality I was looking for, if such numbers really signify anything.

Take care,

Jason
