Achaea, Dreams of Divine Lands
"I don't think there's another game in existence with this much depth." -- John Romero, co-founder of id Software. Two full-time coders. Completely custom world and code. Over 800 spells and abilities. 250+ players during the day. This is the best joke on TMS ever! Kudos to whoever thought of that one! ^_^ And for those of you who don't get it, John Romero spent ages working on a game, summoning powerful marketing forces to hype his game into god-like status even before it was released. This was also his best time because when the game was released, it turned out to be using an outdated rendering engine, unoriginal concepts and storylines and buggy at best, exactly the opposite of what John Romero's marketroids had made it out to be. Ever since then, John Romero and his game, "Daikatana" have been used as homonyms to the words "failure" and "catastrophe". Compare it to Black & White with Peter Molyneux, but on a bigger scale back then. Or Doom 3 with John Carmack, whic I believe is going to end like a disaster as well. Note: Another funny tidbit would be that John Romero feels that graphics are better then gameplay. Then why does he rate MUDs? And out of all things, rate them positively? |

By the same token, it's almost impossible to believe you have the brains to post on a message board, much less mud, Shao.

Apparently Achaea has changed their description...
I wonder if it was because of this thread. |

Is it just me, or does Achaea use the Avalon RPG codebase? That was the first MUD I ever played (just the free trial, I'll be f**ked if I ever pay for a MUD), and the skill/learning/etc system is almost exactly like Avalon RPG's system(s).

I swear the name of it was 'Acheaeaea (sp?) Dreams of Avalon' or something way back when. I am glad to see someone tipped them off to this board so they can monopolize the voting :)
I find it extra funny that due to this thread, they changed their description, the same one I've seen on mudconnector for like... 4 years? Or more even. It makes me laugh like a giddy asian schoolgirl. |

At least Realms of Despair, which has to be the blandest MUD ever, gets knocked down a notch.

Moving away from the RoD issue, I have to say I really enjoy Achaea. I started on Avalon RPG, as I think I just said, and it really has a great intro.
Now that I've "rediscovered" it, I use it to introduce my less MUD-literate friends to MUDding. |

Is Ike's picture a blurry photo of a girl giving head?
funny. heehee. I've never played RoD. I've never played Acheaeaeaea. I'm sure they're both good in some respects. Personally, mu*'s are boring. I just like coding and seeing people play with the stuff. |
