trying to remember an old MUD

Greetings folks, i'm hoping you can help me. I used to play MUD's alot, and had a favorite that I cannot remember what it's called. Can anyone help?

What I (think I) do remember:

it had a HUGE ascii map of the outdoors that you travelled on.

You could harvest trees/stone and plant and harvest grain. You could see the areas that were harvested as part of the world map.

You could then use the harvested resources to help build your city. I remember building granaries and such.

I believe it was a levelless system, maybe classless as well.

Monsters were represented as symbols, and could be avoided

Seasons / weather

I remember being confused that stone that was harvested would 'Grow' back.

You could also permanently modify the map as a player, even carve roads etc.

Anyone?

You might be thinking of EmpireMUD.

The only one I know of up at the moment is at zeno.biyg.org 2101

Sounds like Fear 2 by Xervies of Raffermand. Im pretty sure that there is someone running a fear codebase somewhere.

I'd have to say Fear 2 as well, but I'm not sure if there is one running presently. Most single player games have that kind of setup though.

Re: trying to remember an old MUD

after a little research, it was indeed Fear 2. As there is nobody running one, maybe I should? I've got a static IP, and an old system I can set up as a server (2.4 ghz, 512mb ram), but I'd need the latest release compiled for XP.

Anyone have the abilities to compile this for me?

Question Re: trying to remember an old MUD

I know you said that the code was indeed Fear 2, but it does sound an *awful* lot like EmpireMUD. And that sparks my interest. So, has anyone started running one yet?

Where can I go for more information on Fear 2? The Rafermand site is now focused on the new project "Repopulation" and I don't see Fear mentioned there anymore.

Feel free to even email me privately if you get one running, though I think it would be better to post it here for everyone's benefit.

Thanks!
