Star Wars: Chronicles seeks new staff members
SWC is a MUD under development, and therefore not open for players. We focus on
providing rich, open-ended gameplay, with emphasis on roleplaying. The MUD started out as a stock SWRiP a few years back, but has since taken a very different direction from its roots. Nevertheless the administration tools should feel familiar to anyone experienced with the SWR or Smaug codebases. As we're planning to open within a few months, we are now looking for more people to help us getting the game ready for launch. We are in particular looking for area builders, but other positions are available depending on your level of experience. More details can be found on our website (see below). Note that we don't require you to have prior experience in area building, as long as you can write proper English, and are prepared to learn. Some of our developments over SWRiP includes, but not limited to: * Space system Based on the Space v2 code by Yerok G'Nik (copyright 2004). It has been developed further since January 2006 and is today one of the most detailed space systems on any MUD. * Regions Acts as private subsections within a room. You can stand/sit/rest/sleep at/on/under/etc a region, and talk privately with others in the same region, or to the entire room if needed. This system was inspired by various MUSH type games. * Emotes based on keywords Rather than echoing a simple line of text to the room, this system will allow you to reference characters and objects. It works hand in hand with the introduction system, such that referencing a person will be displayed to others however they know said person. * Plot-driven quest system Completing quests can unlock new areas, make mobs interact differently, or give access to new quests. * Crafting system As detailed or superficial as you want to go. This system is scheduled for further development. * Wounds Instead of hit points we use a wound system. They vary in severity, and death occurs when the wounds becomes too grievious. Wounds can bleed and get infected, and they can be treated to speed up recovery. * Combat Hit locations, several combat messages per weapon type, combat ranges, attack modes, and more. * Professions Inspired by the SWG pre-CU character system, you can customize your character with multiple professions. Be a jack-of-all-trades, or be a specialist. It's all up to you. You can even change professions during the lifetime of your character if you want. * Factions Characters can be members of multiple factions at once. There are also NPC factions.
