String Theory MUX is a role-playing game based on NBC's hit TV series Heroes, which takes place two years after the first season's explosive finale. Our setting is an alternate universe where the bomb exploded, turning New York into a dystopia where -- amongst the rubble -- Homeland Security wages a covert war against the city's Evolved population with the help of a shadowy organization known to fans of the show as The Company.

To quote the man with the horned-rim glasses, we're 'comfortable with morally gray.' That is to say: String Theory MUX strives to create a world where there are no clean-cut forces of good or evil. Although the title of the show is Heroes, staffers at this game would actually prefer to see a mix of characters -- those who are heroic, those who are villainous, and those who are everything in between.

No knowledge of the show is required to play here, but it's certainly a valuable asset! All information needed to create a character on the game can be found on this site, or on the unofficial Heroes wiki located at: . If you have any lingering questions about the theme, feel free to ask staff or see who's available on the +help channel. We'll do our best to accommodate any extra needs you may have.

Staff is still in the process of describing the last few rooms on the grid, but potential players are welcome to log in, create a character, run them through the game's Chargen system and -- if approved -- start RPing.

String Theory is a recently-opened MUX based loosely upon the 'Five Years Gone' alternate timeline of NBC's hit show Heroes. Two years after the bomb, New York City is still in profound disarray, and the official response to the revelation of Evolved humans is just being put into motion. Many of the show's Feature Characters are available for application, including some who died in the main timeline; Original Characters are both welcome and encouraged as well. We are especially looking for characters who are or can become involved with one of the game's factions:

The Company: Don't you want to be responsible for finding and identifying those Evolved who mistakenly believe they can hide from the law? Bringing possible threats in to be dealt with appropriately, so there's no chance of a second Manhattan Explosion? Not to mention the security of having the people behind the law in your pocket, whether you yourself choose to register or not. (But maybe you're in /their/ pocket, which is a slightly different kettle of fish...)

The Ferrymen: Direct action is all well and good, but it doesn't necessarily fix the problems of the present -- things get worse before they get better. Someone has to help the people who got caught up in this mess through no fault of their own. The Ferrymen are currently looking for individuals to help run and protect the organization's safehouses as well as seek out people who are in need of sanctuary. Additionally, one of the faction's leaders, Noah Bennet, is available for application.

Law Enforcement: New York isn't what she once was, but New York's Finest refuse to just give up and give in. Someone has to remind the criminals who think to take advantage of the city that the law is still around. Whether the criminals are Non-Evolved, Evolved -- or even other cops.

The Linderman Group: You know who really owns New York. It's not the activists or the collaborators or even the law. Power is about who you know -- and the Linderman Group knows everyone. Judges. Cops. Dealers. Mob and mafia. Federal agents. Lobbyists. The media. Everyone who's anyone; everyone who might be... /useful/ someday. Most of NYC's criminal activities fall under the umbrella of the Linderman Group -- but this faction has its sneaky, shady fingers in virtually every other pot pie around the city as well.

PARIAH: Fortis et liber: strong and free. Stand up for your rights, and those of everyone else! Whether you're Evolved or not -- after all, it could be /you/ the government tries to target next. Remind America how and why this country was created -- by whatever means possible or necessary. Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words like 'terrorist' don't hurt.
