It's been a great 12 year run for SlothMUD III (out of the 17 years overall of SlothMUD) in which we have seen a huge amount of additions and changes.

We've had literally thousands of different players come and go over that time.  We'd like to thank you all for keeping us motivated to keep making this game better.  We obviously don't do it for profit (as we pay to keep the game going).  We keep it going because you guys and gals keep asking playing.

To the long time players:  We've had a lot of new players in the past few months and especially appreciate the time and energy you have put into helping them along.  It is that spirit that has helped this mud continue to thrive.

To the new players: Welcome to SlothMUD at a very exciting time.

We've come to a point where we want to implement some pretty big changes and believe the only way forward is to restart everyones' characters.  The changes include opening up all 9 classes to a single character, a few key changes in the way experience points are awarded and much more. We expect that you'll soon see characters with levels in 5 or 6 classes, more variation in the way groups run and more interesting non-player characters.

We are going to continue to make this game better by adding new content including areas, items, quests, equipment and more.

We hope that you will continue to with us during this exciting new phase of SlothMUD.  We've tried to ease the transition for returning players by keeping your passwords from your old characters.

Please keep checking our site, as we will be updating it continuously until Sloth returns.


The one thing we have learned from being involved in both the Immortal and Mortal side of this game, is that its not the amount of time you have invested in a character but the FUN you had doing it!

You titled the discussion with SlothMUD II but you talk about SlothMUD III. With such radical changes on the way, wouldn't it be fair to call it SlothMUD IV? Just curious as to the numbering system used.

Actually I misstyped in the title, it should of been SlothMUD III not II.

Does anyone care whether it's SlothMud 1, 2, 3, or 50?

I mean really. Just call the thing SlothMud, I doubt people will be looking around for 1 or 2 or Sloth Mud the Original.

Actually, as I said, we are going back to our original name of Sloth or SlothMud from 17+ years ago.
