Unhappy

There are books where the author creates quotes that the characters in the book have "said" and uses them at the beginning of each chapter. (Heinlein is one example of this.) Have you ever created quotes for characters in your area and used it elsewhere in the area?

The idea is interesting. I've written short stories, etc., with "quotes" introducing chapters or sections...

I haven't quoted characters in my areas, but I have quoted 'books' or 'writings' of the realm in places. Glendorien, an elven city in the treetops, had several poems, or recordings of history carved into pillars found in the forest. One was an aged warrior's lament of lost days, another a love song, attributed to one of the city's founders, and one a list of virtues recorded by one of the city's rulers and placed in a prominent place.

Similiar to your idea, or am I wandering off on a different path?

I've used a similar idea in the library of the main city. There are (and in some cases will be) books and stories, some with just fairytales, others are geographical books with maps, while others are religious and historical books that relate events that took place a long time ago, but in them all there are clues and hints about certain places and events.
