Talking Clok Mud

Hey Folks, I just wanted to drop a message about a mud I found that I have really been enjoying.

Host Address: clok.contrarium.net
Port: 4000
Website: Main Page - CLOKwiki

======= The Quick Pitch =======
Clok Mud is a RP Enforced game of player crafting and adventuring! Various organizations make up the world (What most would call "Guilds") that players can join in order to gather guild points to get extra abilities. Though a player can go through their whole career without the need of joining one! Plenty can be done without a guild and the game focuses on crafting and role playing in Arad (The games world). The games setting is gas lamp with hints of steam punk, but not over whelming.

======= Special features =======
*Heavy focus on material gathering, crafting, forging. Players can make, containers, armors, weapons, jewelry, clothing and more. Players can craft equipment and the likes better than store bought items and even in some cases able to make things unattainable otherwise, putting players crafters in high demand. Some special materials found in our treasure system or via GM events can even allow some PCs to have one of a kind items!

* Unique Combat system - A roundtime system of weapon blows. Different weapons attack more per round, deal different kinds of damage, armor reduces damage, etc!

Examples:

Two Rapier Combat!
Quick but light strikes!

You thrust with a polished bloodglass rapier with a steel hilt at a bloated carrier! (M:180 vs D:89)
25 pierce damage to the right arm!
You thrust with a polished bloodglass rapier with a steel hilt at a bloated carrier! (M:201 vs D:89)
2 pierce damage - to the right leg!
You thrust with a polished bloodglass rapier with a steel hilt at a bloated carrier! (M:180 vs D:89)
15 pierce damage to the right arm!
You thrust with a polished bloodglass rapier with a steel hilt at a bloated carrier! (M:180 vs D:89)
21 pierce damage - to the left leg!
You thrust with a polished bloodglass rapier with a steel hilt at a bloated carrier! (M:201 vs D:84)
9 pierce damage + to the left hand!
(energy -6)
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

Powerful Elemancy!

You gesture at an infested laborer.
A searing bolt of lightning arcs toward an infested laborer. (R:417 vs D:106) 179 electric damage (right arm)
An infested laborer has been defeated.
Tendrils of electricity crackle and fork outward from the main bolt!
An infested hound is struck by a fork of lightning!
35 electric damage (chest)
(energy -30)
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

Riding down them down on horse back! (Also a good example of what having good armor does for you)

trample
(Changing combat position to Engage)
You urge your dusky gray warhorse into charging toward Golyat! (Off: 1327 vs Def: 376)
A dusky gray warhorse slams into Golyat!
8 crush damage -- to the abdomen, somewhat deflected by a bulky bronze breastplate.
Golyat falls to the ground!

Golyat is trampled beneath the dusky gray warhorse!
3 crush damage -- to the right eye, somewhat deflected by a horned bronze greathelm.
4 crush damage -- to the back, somewhat deflected by a bulky bronze breastplate.
Golyat is stunned!
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

* Player and GM run Events - Players gather for social gatherings and hunting. Special merchants for customized weapons, clothing, armor and more pay visits to the various towns! GM run story lines happen often and change the world as the PCs act upon them.

* Unique Treasure System - Adventuring becomes more exciting with Cloks custom treasure generator. From random weapons, armors and even boxes that contain jewels, money, crafting materials and more.

Examples:

l in chest
THE SQUARE ALDER CHEST
a small pile of riln, red garnet and a finely tailor charcoal gray sundress
There is plenty of room left in the square alder chest.

l in strongbox
THE PLAIN COPPER BOX
a small pile of riln, fir squire model and a standard brass-bar

* Large World to Explore - The world is made up of an over map (Think Final Fantasy) with areas built into it that you can explore deeper. There are both OOC and IC maps you can use to make it very easy for you to get around even in the beginning! A mini map is also provided.

* Newbie Friendly - Though we are roleplaying enforced, most players are very excited to help new comers to the game. There is a lot of unique features to the game that may seem over whelming at first, but its easier than you may think and we have a lot of documentation on our wiki! As well we have a question channel that gets a lot of use and allows everyone to answer questions!

* Player Housing - We have homes for sale for players looking for long term storage or more role-playing opportunities. Some even with unique features, hidden rooms and more!

*And more! - We have so many features and new ones coming often, its a long list to keep track of. Clok is in alpha so changes come often! Come check it out and see if you like what they do there. I sure do!

Re: Clok Mud

Just wanted to let everyone know, Clok has hired a new GM so events are now even more frequent! As well many new guild improvements have been put into place. We are definitely looking for new players and have mentor's and GMs to help those along who are new to the game!

Thanks,

-Critical / Jhordon @ Clok

Re: Clok Mud

It must be said that while stated as being in alpha, CLOK is fully-featured and provides constant events and storylines to foster roleplay. It has been a thrill over the past few weeks to be involved in the latest storyline involving the Church, a mysterious cult, and the conflict between the two. Being able to personally help defend and reclaim sites and strongholds, provide supplies, and excavate areas has been a joy, to say nothing of all the resulting roleplay between the player characters. It should also be noted that there are player characters on both sides of the conflict: the Blood Cult is not made up solely of nameless or GM-run NPCs, but there are players who are themselves involved from that side of the conflict, making the whole affair very interesting.

CLOK is a joy that I have partaken of for years, and I always come back for more.

Re: Clok Mud

And we are glad to have players who can be on both sides! we even have factions and suppliers, etc for those players.

As another side note, we opened up charmseeking, our own spin on trick or treating! Gather the charms to keep the wraith from claiming your soul!

Re: Clok Mud

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have opened our Summer Festival and with it a few special merchants will be making appearances now and again until the weekend begins.

We are also nearing a rather large turn for our game in which players will be able to heavily customize there characters powers called "Generalization". This will be a fantastic time to get in on the ground floor and make the hero you've always wanted to play!

Remember our game doesn't always require your PC to be a combat monster for them to be important! As always, feel free to pop in and see what we have to offer! we look forward to playing with you!
