This is a discussion on "Xibalba Gate" in the Top Mud Sites Tavern of the Blue Hand forum : Has anyone read "Xibalba Gate" by Rob Swigert? It came out last fall, and was written by a friend of a friend. Apparently, the plot heavily revolves round a MUD based on Mayan civilization... I haven't read it, and it was printed in such a limited edition that even the paperback is nearly $30... I'd like to know if anyone has heard of it, good or ill. Before I sink that into a volume unknown, I thought I would ask MUD-dom at large for any insights--there's a review at Midwest Book Review ... |

Obligatory disclaimer to avert accusations of being a promoter or affiliated with the author: I don't know Rob Swigert, my long-time buddy was bemoaning to me that when he attended the signing, all the copies had sold before he could get one--and I asked him "What is it about?"--my friend knows zip about MUDs in general, and called it an "RPG" in his description. Until I tracked down this review, I didn't connect it. |

No, I haven't even heard of it. $30 for a paperback wow. You can get books independently published on demand for cheaper than that.
Pretty cool though. If I see it I'll have to buy it. |
